Giselle’s story
Giselle was born with multiple disabilities and spent the first five years of her life ignored and neglected in a crowded orphanage in Rwanda.
When Anglof Regional Foundation & Humanitarian Relief Agency (ARFHRA) closed that institution, we found a wonderful foster family to care for Giselle and give her the support and encouragement she needed. Their love and dedication has transformed her life. When Giselle left the orphanage, she couldn’t stand or use her arms. Now, this joyful little girl can pull herself up right, pack her own school bag, zip it up and put it on her back.
Her foster mother, Rolette, is confident that Giselle will soon be able to walk by herself. Our work in Rwanda and Uganda shows that all children, whatever their needs, can lead fulfilling lives if they have the chance to grow up with the love and protection of a family.
Every pound you donate to the End the Silence campaign before the 27th December will be doubled by the UK Government. It means that together, we can reach over 120,000 children across Rwanda and Uganda who are currently confined to orphanages or at risk of being separated from their families.
